Support for Young Researchers

Objectives and goals of our support for young researchers

We provide a research environment for young researchers to fully exhibit their abilities and create innovations.

Flexible and fresh ideas from young researchers are crucial for creating innovations. Thus, COI Tohoku Site provides active support for young researchers.

By continuously implementing workshops centralized on young researchers, we are getting new insights that could not be acquired previously. In addition to providing feedback on research and development related to these discoveries, we are using young researcher meetings hosted by JST (Japan Science and Technology Agency), the COI 2021 conference, the "COI Young Researcher Ideathon Workshop in Sendai" organized by COI Tohoku Site, and similar activities to strengthen collaboration with other sites. In this way we train human resources who are capable of creating innovations by performing world-class research, and of contributing to society with the fruits of their research. We continue to construct an environment that facilitates the creation of new innovations.

Today, the instability of employment for young researchers in Japan has become a social issue. We provide support from a number of angles so that even researchers with tenure can establish a career path through COI Site activities, and by spreading these initiatives beyond COI, we are creating a society where young researchers can be more at ease as they work toward creating innovations.
